A Round up of the past year, Star Paws Style!
This is part of our Star Paws blog which you can follow at: https://wordpress.com/posts/starpawspetsblog.wordpress.com
Lockdown number 3, but let's stay cheery!
This is our first blog post for quite a while due to the Covid 19 pandemic, Christmas and just an all round crazy year. However, as we begin another lockdown, I thought this was an ideal opportunity to reach out and say hello, update you on what has been happening at Star Paws over the past few months and hopefully, though some photos of our gorgeous furry friends, make your day a little brighter.
Was it really only last year?
This is the question I asked Kathryn when she mentioned the 2020 New Year's day dip, which the Star Paws staff took part in this time last year. I would not have had any idea, when I plunged into the icy depths of the North Sea, that a year on the world and life would be so different. With this in mind, I thought there was no better way to start this particular blog than a few photos from the event in question...
What happened next?
Well, we all know that things changed dramatically quite soon after January 2020 and we documented much of the Star Paws first lockdown journey through this blog. Thanks to our hard working staff, loyal and generous customers and the drive of our amazing business owner Kathryn, we have been able to stay open throughout the pandemic. Regular blog visitors will have read all about the themed events, virtual gatherings and tea parties, play dates and ongoing old and new services we have been able to continue to provide. However, let me update you on all our news from the past few months, and don't worry there will be lots of gorgeous photos too!
Celebration Week and SARA Fundraiser
As most of you will know, we have a celebration and SARA fundraising event every September and we love seeing many of our customers and their furry friends there. We are usually entertained by a brass band, treated to tasty cakes and biscuits, wowed by craft and treat stalls, enthused by the support of local businesses who donate to our raffle and always captivated by the 'fun dog show.' For obvious reasons, the annual event couldn't take place as usual, however we were not to be deterred and decided to host the event the '2020 way' - socially distanced and virtually! Below are some photo collages of the Star Paws Annual Celebration Week 2020.
New pups on the block
Throughout lockdown and the pandemic we have been so lucky to keep up with our regular walks, visits and boarders and we have also had some new starters too, get ready to go 'ahh' for the new Star Paws pups...
"You can do anything with the right handbag and shoes"
I mentioned the photoshoot earlier when talking about the celebration week, however I want to show you a compilation of our super models because they are quite simply fab-u-lous, as is our photographer, Middlesbrough manager Chloe.
It's not only Chloe who has been learning new skills this year, Julia, our Stockton manager, is currently training for her Level 3 City and Guilds grooming qualification and is doing so well. Here are some photos of her journey so far...
Halloween Spooktactular Party!
Well we figured dogs are the only ones who can party at the moment, so we made the most of it and organised a spooky Halloween bash - costumes were absolutely necessary!
Countdown to Christmas
Christmas is always a special time at Star Paws and this year we wanted to celebrate it more than ever so made sure we had lots of festive events planned! First up the Star Paws Nativity which featured many well known characters and some new ones too!
And it wasn't just the traditional Nativity that our day boarders got involved with, can you guess the book represented in this tableau?
Due to the popularity of the September photo shoot, Chloe went behind the camera once again over Christmas and took these very festive snaps.
With the festive cheer setting in and a visit from Santa Paws just around the corner, our day boarders were treated to their very own Christmas party complete with festive jumpers, snacks, games and music!
While the Christmas music played, the Star Paws elves were very busy preparing the gorgeous gifts you had ordered this year including calendars, snow globes and hampers!
So, that brings us almost up to date and you can see that although 2020 was a very different year, we have and continue to, make the best of things and are so grateful that we are still able to provide a service for all of our amazing customers. Here are a few collages of our favourite 2020 photos...
And a final word, as always, from Keith... "I can't believe it has taken a global pandemic for you to understand why pets try to run out of the house as soon as the door opens!”
